Our Story On Broadway

Broken Dreams is a new Vietnamese restaurant on Broadway in downtown Oakland, but the cooking behind it comes from more than 42 years of family experience. Much of that experience is rooted in the food and culture of Vietnam. As a family-owned, women-owned, and minority-owned business, we make our food with the same care we would give a meal at home.

Our menu is made up of dishes we grew up eating and still enjoy today. Broken rice plates are at the center of the menu, with chicken, beef, pork, seafood, and vegetarian options. We also serve real cream Vietnamese coffee that's sweet and strong, along with fresh vermicelli bowls filled with herbs and greens. For something different, try our fried banh bao or wild game pate.

You'll also find Vietnamese salads and a rotating selection of snacks that are easy to share. We have vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free choices for guests with different dietary needs, so there's something for most people at the table. Whether you're stopping in for a quick bowl or ordering for a group, we want the food to feel like something you'd enjoy at home.
